  1. I love pwsafe, and use it on my iPad and iPhone. It's a wonderful application, but I have a request for a new feature, and also a question.

First, I'd like some control over the iteration count used. I'm willing to wait a few seconds to open the file on my iPhone, in exchange for a few bits more of security. I understand this only buys a little bit of extra security, but every little bit helps when you're putting your human ability to remember and type a complicated password up against Moore's law.

Second, I'm curious: in your password…

  2. One of my main uses of pwsafe is in storing generated passwords of up to 20 characters for various online banking sites. Such sites do not require the full password but three characters. The 'display a subset of Password' on the Win version provides a great service and if this could be replicated on the ios version then it would allow me to identify the required subset on my iphone to enter either on Safari or on another device.

Please let me know the feasibility!

    Hi Philip,

I’ll take a look at this feature and, if possible, add it to one of the new versions.

    Thanks for you suggestion.

  3. When you store the safe in iCloud, you should be able to back it up to local disk, just to make sure to have youre own copy locally. If iCloud service is down or the iCloud version is corrupt.

  5. Hi, I use your app on my iPhone and iPad.
I have just purchased a Samsung ChromeBook and would love to be able to use pwSafe on that utilising its offline storage.

  6. Often I want to lookup a URL in pwSafe on my phone and type it into my desktop at work (which doesn't have pwSafe and I have IT goons which won't let me install it).

If the URL is long I can't see the whole entry as it gets truncated in the view. I have to hit edit to try to get in to see the whole URL. Please consider a scroll feature in view to see it without having to go into edit. Or an auto scroll feature for any field too long to view. Thanks.

  7. I just got pwSafe for my Mac and my iPad. I like it a lot. It is pretty easy to use and I love the way in syncs over iCloud.

However, I see a really big problem. It is way too easy to delete a safe in the Mac app. If you select a safe in the welcome screen a hit the delete key it's gone! There should be some kind of "are you sure you want to do this?" warning with an opportunity to say no.

The iPad app is much better on this. To delete a safe I…

  8. I can't believe you don't offer an "All Items" viewing option in the Mac desktop app like you do on the iOS apps! Please add!
Also, a "Save" button after creating or editing and entry would make it feel more user friendly and intuitive ..... even if it's not needed.

  9. Earlier versions of PasswordSafe saved to a file with a .db extension. You guys wanted to be fancy and use .pwsafe3. I know I can just change the extension to .pwsafe3, but what if that breaks my other PWS applications running on Linux or Windows or FooOS? Please add the ability to open PasswordSafe files that have the .db extension, like when Bruce Schneier first made this app, and for those of us who have been using it for several years. Thanks.

  10. Would it be possible to have this great application run on on an IronKey flash drive? The IronKey app does not run on a Mac. IronKey is very secure and easily transported (no glass). If it pwSafe could run from the IronKey on a PC or a Mac it would be great.

Nice job on pwSafe, I like keeping my really important passwords in a local safe. I don't want to share them. IronKey could also provide backup without using the network.

  11. Instead of supporting other commercial Cloud services, I would suggest to implement support for the free OwnCloud solution. (Free, open source and fast growing)
    http://www.owncloud.org
With that awesome Feature, your customers are no longer forced to store their pw safes at data collecting big companies.

  13. The ability to add new fields in pwSafe would make it the perfect app. So say I want a heading called "first school" on one password and "favourite teacher" on another. Great app :-)

  14. Within a business environment opening a safe from a shared location (i.e. over VPN on our iOS devices) using WebDAV makes a lot of sense and is really the only option for our security considerations.

  15. The [alt] prefix on URLs in the Windows version of password safe allows you to use a predefined alternative browser on a per-entry basis. On iOS, Safari returns an error when the [alt] prefix is encountered.

  17. On the left side, after the entry title, the program takes the user, inserts an @, and appends the url, creating a non-existent email address.
falsification of email addresses seem to be a disservice to your customers.

  18. My two iOS devices immediately share changes to the iCloud-shared safe file, but my Mac copy of pwSafe does not seem to push changes to the file to iCloud in a timely manner. Can you make the iCloud sync timer in the Mac version visible, or add a "sync now" command to force it after a major change? I just added a new entry on the Mac which did not show up on either of my iOS devices; adding a new entry on one iOS device showed up immediately on the other, also on the Mac -- wiping out, on…

  19. Last night I put all my data in pwSafe on the Mac in the iCloud. I hit the delete button by accident and my complete Safe was gone!!! Two hours of work are gone!!! There was no question for a master password. Just press Delete and all your data is gone. Please fix this major bug. Anyone who starts pwSafe on my computer can delete all my passwords. So please fix this major bug and put a master password on the Mac version even as on the Iphone version
